I was born and bred in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, but now live just up the road in Tring with my husband, son and dog 'Julian'. I am chairman of Berkhamsted Local History & Museum Society. Historic landmarks, local knowledge and rose-tinted spectacles are blended perfectly! I research and write local history articles and publish my own local history books.
My pictures are hand-painted in (water-based) gouache paint. I’m traditional in that I use old-fashioned paper, pencils, paintbrushes and paint. No computers are used to make these pictures!
I went to Watford School of Art, followed by taking my degree at Portsmouth (2:1) Fine Art.
My style has been influenced by the artists who were famous for creating the pre-war advertising travel posters for the Railways. I particularly admire the work of Norman Wilkinson, who I have recently discovered was an old boy of Berkhamsted School - where I worked in the art department as an art-technician for nearly 20 years.
I have been self-employed as an artist since 2017 and I take on commissions of both private homes and businesses.
My work is included in private collections from people as diverse as Boris Johnson, Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Nicholas Coleridge (chairman of Historic Royal Palaces and ex-chairman of the V&A), Chesham & Amersham Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Green and more recently UK Prime Minister and leader of the Labour Party Sir Kier Starmer and I have had letters of thanks from Rishi Sunak and the late HM The Queen.
